After discussing many times and preparing, today we visit Mr. lin’s workshop, and have first contact with Mr. Lin. All of us are nervous and excited. Before this visit, we study hard for this even. Now it is time to make it come true.

When we visit Mr. Lin Yuquan, there are other masters working in the workshop. While we come in, the workshop becomes so crowded. Therefore all of us only stand and talk with Mr. Lin.

Just like school teacher told us, Mr. Lin is very kind. He treat us with big smile. This makes us relaxed. We enjoy this visit with his humor.

1.Mr. Lin said that :
Making salt in Taiwan is in accordance with weather. Works must be stand all kinds of bad weather (strong wind, heavy rain or high temperature).

The apprentice life is very hard. I could not stand and had ran away several times. But every time my father forced me back. Now I thank for my father’s insistence

2. Mr. Lin you should have many works after so many years. Could you tell us where are works now? Which one is most impressed? Which one is most satisfied? Why?
Mr. Lin Yuquan: Such as武廟, 天后宮, Tainan city hall, you can see my works in every Tainan temples.
The best work : I spent a lot for each work. So I am satisfied with every production

Most impress work:

This work took the longest lead time (about 4 months). More than 10 masters cooperate with it.

Suddenly Mr. Lin said that the embroidery was used on the religion.
By the way , Mr. Lin also mentioned that his works are created for  the business , but now they are created for the art.
We also asked why the embroidery had come to be this way.

“The thing happening yesterday is the history of today ” answered Mr. Lin. It means that people should keep progressing to follow the changes of the epoch.

3. We asked whether Mr. Lin made the most works by himself or not and how about his partner.
Mr. Lin said that most of the embroidery was made by the cooperation in the embroidery workshop. This work takes a lot of time to finish, so it’ s seldom made by oneself .In the workshop, Mr. Lin is in charge of the painting and the management, and the others are in charge of paving and embroidering. If there are any problems, Mr. Lin will solve them out by himself. Suddenly Mr. Lin starts to introduce the masters in the workshop. One of them is Mr. Lin’s wife, another is his sister in law, and the last one is called “ senior fellow apprentice ”by him.

When he was young, he served in the artillery of the air force.
During the military service, however, his parent have passed away. He was afraid to go home because scene pained the heart.
